Hi. Welcome to my updated website. If you click on the thumbnails of my photos on the right sidebar, you’ll get to see some of my photos on Flickr. Flickr is Yahoo’s free photo sharing service that is a bit different from Kodak Gallery.
On my website, I’ll be posting articles about eBay and digital cameras on this page and any other topics that may be of interest.
Since I started working full time, I have cut down on my class teaching dramatically. For 2007-8 CE Classes, I’m going to try a new course, “Buying your Digital Camera” for Fall 2007 only at Brighton, Rush-Henrietta, and West Irondequoit. In the Winter, I’ll teach the “Getting to Know your Digital Camera” class, and then I’ll teach “Digital Editing with Picasa” in the Spring. Hope to see you there.
You can join my email list, by sending me an email at kredotom-1@yahoo.com . I’ll be sending notifications of new courses for Digital Camera subjects.
You can help me defray the expenses in running this site by using the links below to register for these services.

Really excellent article on CCD sizes for digital cameras at dpreview.com. Current point and shoot digital cameras are advertising 8-12 megapixel cameras, but the size of the CCD sensor is much much smaller than a SLR digital camera at 6 megapixels. The only way they can do this, is by making the pixels smaller, which means the point and shoot cameras are OK with bright light, but falter in low light conditions. Anyway, even if you are not technical, the article shows you the different CCD sizes and you can pretty much understand why a 6 megapixel SLR is better than a 12 megapixel point and shoot.

I recently made a photo book using the KodakGallery.com website. It was awesome. $29 for a hard cover, professionally bound book with 10 pages of photos (both sides). It came out better than I expected. It is a really unique and reasonably priced gift. The interface works like a charm. My sister loved it. Highly recommended.
Here’s the link. Photo Book Link at KodakGallery You should organize your photos before you start, and upload them to a gallery folder before you begin. I had about 100 photos for a 22 page book.

In your My Pictures folder (or wherever your pictures are located), select the photo you want to send by opening the File menu, clicking Send To, and then clicking Mail Recipient.
A Send Pictures via E-Mail dialog box will appear.
Click Show more options, choose Make all my pictures smaller, and then select Make my pictures this size: small (fits in a 640 by 480 window).

Could you clear up my confusion about the fees that ebay collects for when an item is sold?
I am confused about 5.25 , plus 3% thing. If I sold an item for say $200 would it breakdown like this:
5.25% for the first $25 or $1.31
3% for the last $175 or $5.25
$6.56 total
Is that how I should look at it? … YES.

Hewlett-Packard has recalled more than half a million digital cameras, citing the risk of a fire hazard from an overheated battery.
HP learned of the problem when a customer complained that his Photosmart R707 digital camera had caught fire while plugged into its docking station, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The flames damaged the camera and filled the room with smoke, but the customer was not injured.
The problem is caused by a mistake in the camera’s firmware that kicks in when the device is plugged into an AC adapter or docking station, and attempts to charge non-rechargeable batteries such as the Duracell CP-1, HP said.
Patch Available
HP has issued a repair patch that customers can download to their cameras.
The recall affects 679,000 cameras worldwide, including 224,000 sold in the U.S. http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,114789,00.asp HP unveiled the 5.1-megapixel camera at the Photo Marketing Association conference in 2002 and sold it from August 2004 through April 2006 for prices ranging from $250 to $400.
The company has since launched several new generations of digital cameras, including the top-of-the-line R725, R727 and R927, with larger LCDs and greater resolution.

This is for the power users out there. I came across a very useful extension to Firefox that allows you to view all the negative feedback for a user in one mouse click. It is called “Ebay Negs!”. You can find it at the Firefox Extension page at modizilla.org, but that version only works with Firefox .7 to 1.0.3. If you have the latest version 1.5 of Firefox you can find a modified version at http://members.aol.com/caymanisle/ that works with 1.5 of Firefox. You highlight an ebay username that is in “plain text” on any web page and then right click and select Ebay Negs! you will also then be transferred to the http://www.toolhaus.org page where all the negative feedback remarks that user has received will be displayed.
I do not include this in my eBay classes since it requires advanced knowledge of Firefox which is beyond the scope of the class.

If you are discouraged with the complexity of the current crop of digitial cameras, Olympus has two cameras that try to simplify the user interface with one fuction per button. The FE100 is a 4 megapixel and the FE110 is a five megapixel digital camera.
The cameras feature a built-in Help Guide so you don’t have to consult a manual; easy printing directly to a printer; an uncomplicated “One Touch” design with separate buttons for shooting, playing back and erasing digital images, and several scene modes to get the right effect in any setting. Althought the camera is easy to use, it is slower than the average camera, which may be a deal breaker for you. Check out the complete review at:

Check out www.gumshoo.com. It is a new service that you can search for your ebay items from their web site and they will give you a fraud alert if the listing looks fishy. Post your experience and let us know what you think of the site.
